Stop Press ~~~Exciting News!
On Wednesday evening, 4th June we
were successful in becoming an RYA Recognised Teaching Centre. This means
that we are now recognised in our own right rather than being a satellite
centre and will receive the full support of the RYA. We can now issue our own
certificates and
assess and appoint our own assistant instructors which will make life easier.
George Rice the RYA Coach examiner who vetted use said that he was impressed
with the quality of the equipment and that we had a unique position. David
is now the principal, well done to him and his team of instructors and
helpers who made the evening run smoothly.

Three seasons ago we decided that the old Dory, although still working well,
had seen better days and needed replacing. We were lucky 6 years ago to get
a lottery ‘Awards for All’ donation of £5,000 which enabled us to purchase
the blue RIB, but unfortunately had been unable to find a sponsor to provide
the funds for a second one. We therefore set out to raise the money
ourselves. In June 2006 we held a very successful sponsored canoe and with
the help of the Waveney Canoe Club we had great fun paddling, in relays,
from Beccles to Bungay. The weather was perfect and families and friends
were very generous. In May 2007, our 25th anniversary year, we held a Grand
Draw and Wine Tasting Evening for parents. These were also very successful
and as a result we were able to purchase the new boat in time for the start
of this season. On sailing evenings YPA members will have noticed the smart
new orange Rigiflex out on the water with them. Several other clubs now use
these boats as an alternative to the RIB. Once again we would like to thank
all those parents and friends of YPA who have supported our fund raising
over the past 2 years. Your generosity has enabled us to keep our safety
boats up to date.
