Who's Who

John Webb  Chairman

John has ensured the integrity and smooth running of the Club in his position as Chairman.  He attends all sailing sessions as main Safety Boat driver.

Denise Webb Secretary

Denise joined the committee when her sons were members of the club.  They have moved on, but she is still there keeping a watchful eye on the young sailors (and committee) on and off the water.

David Atienza RYA Principal & Senior Instructor
David is our much loved and dynamic Senior Instructor.  A fund of ideas both on and off the water.  He and John Hallas are often to be found at Aldeburgh Yacht Club perfecting their capsize drill

Jim Cotton Instructor & First Aid Instructor
Jim is a well established Instructor. He used to help with YPA when his children were members. He then left to sail and instruct at Orford Sailing Club, where he sails a Wayfarer. He has now once again found the time to help at YPA. We welcome Jim back as part of the team.

Stephen Nobbs Instructor
Stephen was a keen member of YPA in the 1990s. He moved away from the area to go to university and, having successfully graduated, now lives and works locally. He has now completed his Instructor training well done Stephen and congratulations.

Graham Webb Power Boat & Sailing Instructor
Graham is one of our success stories.  Joining YPA at the age of 11, he has worked his way through the RYA scheme, and now holds a Power boat and Sailing instructor certificate. He has enjoyed some extensive off-shore sailing including North Sea and Channel crossings.

John Hallas Chief Instructor & Senior Instructor

Treasurer and Membership Secretary

John's tireless talents are always at our disposal ensuring the smooth running of the club, organising our membership, bank accounts, website and newsletters!

Colin Atherton Instructor
Colin's enthusiasm for sailing led him to obtain his Instructor qualification in order to pass on his skills to our young people. He is our resident rudderless expert.

Tony Sear Instructor

Tony is a longstanding Instructor.  A retired teacher with lots of fun ideas for keeping young people busy on and off the water.
